The Homecoming on Broadway Cast

The Homecoming on Broadway cast is made out of actors who interpret the six characters, five men and one woman, of the play The Homecoming written by Harold Pinter.

The Homecoming on Broadway had two release dates, one in London and the other one in New York. The London premiere was played mostly with actors from the Royal Shakespeare Company. It was directed by Peter Hall, with Paul Rogers as Max, Terence Rigby as Joey, Ian Holm as Lenny, John Normington as Sam, Michael Bryant as Teddy and Vivien Merchant as Ruth. The London premiere opened on the 3th of June 1965. The New York premiere of The Homecoming on Broadway opened two years later, on January 5h 1967. It was the first original American production from a book of Harold Pinter and it used the same cast as the London premiere with the exception of the role of Teddy. He was played in the American version of The Homecoming on Broadway by Michael Craig.

The show also had a different cast when it was aired on BBC Radio 3, on 18 March2007. The brand new production of the old play was directed by Thea Sharrock and produced by Martin J. Smith.

The original Broadway cast is different from all the casts above. The Broadway production gained critical acclaim and won a Tony Award. The main actors were James Frain as Teddy, Raul Esparza as Lenny, Ian McShane as Max, Michael McKean as Sam, Eve Best as Ruth and Gareth Saxe as Joey. It was directed by Daniel Sullivan and had a lifetime of only 20 weeks. It opened on 16 December 2007 and received the Drama Desk Award for outstanding performances. Other awards include Best Actress in a Play, Best Revival of a Play and Best Actor in a Play.
